THE PRESIDENT

Doreen Francis, President and CEO of Canadian Decorators and Designers Inc., is a passionately creative person. She is highly skilled in colour co-ordination and the effective display of decoration arrangements.

Doreen has been an Interior Decorator for over 20 years. She has worked with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) to develop a comprehensive outline of training for the Interior Decorating profession.

In 1987, Doreen graduated from Humber College’s Interior Decorating program. With government funding, Doreen conducted the first Labour Market Study of Interior Decorators in Canada.

Doreen currently sits as an Advisory Board Member for the Interior Decorating programs at Sheridan College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning, and Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning.

Her greatest achievement in support of Canadian interior decorators in the décor/design industry was accomplished through her organization as Chair of CDECA Canadian Decorators' Association during its phenomenal national growth from 1998 to 2006. Doreen worked for the enhancement and support of all decorators in the interior design industry and ultimately ensured consumers of the highest professionalism of its members.

In 2006, with her vast knowledge and body of work, Doreen has started the organization, Canadian Decorators & Designers Inc. With an experienced team of industry leaders, this organization is positioned to grow the interior decoration practice to the highest professional standards and practices. CD&D's mandate is to deliver valuable service to decorating, and design professionals, consumers, industry suppliers, and training institutions, and to be responsible to the environment.

Doreen actively participates in trade shows such as the National Home Show, Fall Home Show, IIDEX/NeoCon, and the Metro Home Show. In addition, she teaches interior decorating in the evening for the Catholic School Board in Durham. In addition, she is a popular speaker for various groups. Doreen generously donates her services and some products to decorate halls for charities such as Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
